Lonnie Lee's
DANCE RANCH
|
In the early/mid 1990's the Line Dance craze took over the
country music world. New artists emerged with great songs that
went to the top of the parades and many established stars joined
in and released similar material. Audiences and dancers around the
world put on their boots and did the bootscoot boogie, gliding
across the smooth dance floors of clubs, bars, dance hall,
gymnasiums and auditoriums.
Australia followed suite and the first major Line Dance Show to
hit the proverbial floorboards, was Lonnie Lee's Dance Ranch. He
included several Line Dance instructors to lead the charge and
each week show the fans and dancers the slick moves required for
every new song.
Lonnie's band featured especially chosen musicians to belt out
the solid rhythms to the new songs as well some old standards and
well known Lonnie Lee hits.
Every week had to Lonnie learn 8 to 10 brand new songs to keep
up with the onslaught of hits coming out of America.
The show had a permanent residency at the big Mounties Club for
around 18 months and toured to many other venues.
It was filmed over 2 nights on VHS-C tape, which by today's
standards leaves much to be desired however for the time it was
right on!
